See you all outside tomorrow! Holly, I love your painting. Thanks for sharing it.
Circumcision, huh? All the males in my family and my husband's family are circumcised (Catholic) so I had my son circumcised. The procedure was horrific and I would never, ever do that again. One of my life regrets. The woman who did it was careless and callous.
I know much more about the circumcision debate than I care to. There is merit to the idea that circumcision doesn't really offer much benefit for health in an affluent Western country. There is also merit to the idea that in places with high HIV rates and substandard access to reproductive health care, circumcision lowers the rate of STI transmission. I read several studies years ago stating that African adult men who voluntarily underwent circumcision tended to be pleased this the results and I did not dive further into the ...qualitative data... on this topic. I always figured if circumcision were that damaging to male sexual health, men would let us know loudly and unambiguously.
Frankly though, I'm hesitant to engage in these debates because 1.) I don't have any foreskin in the game and 2.) Everyone involved seems obsessed with dicks to a degree that is incomprehensible to me.
As a Jewish man from Israel, I grew up in a society that 100% everyone had to go through circumcision, without even thinking about it. Now, 40 years later, my sister's two sons were not because they read/heard about the different implications, and are living in a more liberal place, so they will not be the only ones like that. I think that changing these laws will never happen in the US but trying to reach out and 'educate' more liberal societies is a much more possible way to get some progress done.
We are going to a protest tomorrow! Joining up with people from our Unitarian Universalist community and some other folks in Surprise, AZ - which feels safer/calmer than downtown Phoenix but we did have some crazy MAGA interactions when we did it on President’s Day so who knows?
That was hilarious Ms.Alpha Penguin. Now we just need to put a tariff on Prom Dress Island. No bubble hem poly satin dresses should be allowed to escape.
Thank you! This made me smile for a few minutes. I'll try to keep smiling so that the reality of it
becomes intellectual enlightenment. The leader of the free world just doesn't have what it takes. Could I possibly smile for three+ more years? Thanks, again....

I don't have any foreskin in the game, LOL.
Thanks for the post and love the art work.

Love the painting. Re Heard Island.... well you would not write this into a screen play but Trump's crew did it for real.

Loved that painting Holly! This was great fun to read. A little levity at the end of a long week is greatly appreciated.
