My one thing this week: continuing to engage politically with my brother on Facebook. Despite having the flu.

I'd given up pretty much all political discussion on Facebook several years ago except those directly related to Ohio, where I live. What's happening right now made me change my mind.

My brother has always been a conservative Republican but it's been painful for me to watch him deflect and justify what's going on now. I'm one of those people who's either blessed or cursed to see lots of gray areas in life. It makes me more open to reconsider my opinions when challenged. That part is a good thing.

I also have moments of moral clarity where I will not be moved. There aren't many of those for me -- this is one of them.

So I continue to engage with facts, calling out deflections, and acknowledging the faults of previous administrations while remaining focused on the fact that what we're living through now is a world of difference from any of previous time we've lived through.

Will it make a difference? Probably not. But I know I'm presenting things my brother might not see otherwise, including from conservative sites like The Dispatch (not always idealogically compatible with me but allies nonetheless).

Is there a website for events like the "Hands Off" or support for Ukraine in DC?

Thanks a lot

that's one of my gripes about this whole protest thing---it's hard to find out when/where. This one, however, is HUGE and multiple organizations involved. So it's on many websites https://handsoff2025.com/?SQF_SOURCE=indivisible

Thank you. We, in Israel, are unfortunately two years ahead of the US in protesting an authoritarian government, so i assume its just a matter of time until you form FB and WhatsApp groups and all that.

There are those, too many. For dc I would like a one stop shop of protest schedule. We are just a really big country.

Thank you, Holly, for redeeming that horrible song. I'll never think of the trite hackneyed version again when I hear it at Christmas, but only of "poor" Charlie Kirk and what little he knows about the actual Jesus.

I occasionally look at National Review (I was a subscriber 50 years ago) and am astonished to see a defense of the indefensible as with this headline: No, People Aren’t Being Kidnapped or Disappeared. ....... But if Trump holding up a Bible as a prop did not tell one to walk away then nothing will. (Of course whoever stayed after the pussy grabbing admission was already in the position of defending the indefensible. )
